Terms and Condition

The deadline for entries is 1730hrs (GMT) on Friday 14th October

The contest is open to everyone.

The duration of your film must not exceed 3 minutes including titles and credits.

Love Bath Film Competition is open to short films of all production techniques, including animation, documentary, drama, experimental or artist film and hybrid work. We do not accept advertisements.

The film must be filmed and based in Bath and North East Somerset and celebrate the city and its surrounding areas.

Only films completed since November 2010 may be submitted. Whilst we do not have a premiere policy, we positively encourage entries made specifically for the LoveBath Film Competition

We only accept postal entries.

Postal entries will not be returned. Do not send originals, and make sure you retain a copy.

All films remain the copyright of the maker(s) but upon entering this competition you understand that your films will be streamed on www.thisisbath.co.uk and if selected will be shown in the Little Theatre and reproduced on a souvenir DVD.

All music rights must be cleared and licensed to be shown at the festival.

The primary contact completing the submission process must be authorized to submit the film.

If the original language is not English, please ensure that the film includes English subtitles.

When exporting, please make sure your compressed version is good enough quality for us to judge and screen at the Little Theatre.

Please note that only the director(s) will be credited on the website and any other promotional material.

An entry form must be submitted with every entry. It is the responsibility of the entrant to fill in the entry coupon correctly, failure to do so will result in disqualification.

No purchase/payment is required unless stated.

Copies of competition entry forms are available (if applicable) from The Bath Chronicle, LoveBath, Westpoint, James St West, Bath, BA2 1DA on day of publication only.

When you respond to Bath News & Media’s competitions, offers or promotions, we may use your information for marketing purposes.

We will contact you by mail or telephone to let you know about any of our special offers, products and services which may be of interest to you unless you have asked us not to. We will only contact you by e-mail, text message or similar electronic means with your permission. We will only pass your name on to third parties if you have consented for us to do so.

In some cases our special offers, products and services may be provided, on our behalf, by our partners. If you have agreed to be contacted by us, your personal information may be passed to our partners, however, in all such cases we remain a data controller of your personal information.

When responding to competitions, offers or promotions by postcard, if you do not wish your details to be used by us to send you special offers, please make this clear by stating “no offers”.

Unless otherwise specified, all entries must be made using the entry form(s) printed in The Bath Chronicle. No photocopies will be accepted.

All entries must be received by the date published in The Bath Chronicle.

The panel of judge’s decision is final and no correspondence entered into.

No employees of Bath News and Media or any company associated with the competition or any member of their close family may enter.

The Bath Chronicle accepts no liability for any loss, damage or injury caused by any prizes won.

Prizes are as stated and no alternatives cash or otherwise are available.

Publicity may be given to any competition winners and/or entrants and their names and/or photographs printed in The Bath Chronicle.

The panel of judge’s reserves the right in absolute discretion to disqualify any entry competitors, or nominee, add to, or write any rules, or to cancel the whole or part of any competition at any stage without prior notification.

Any closing date for entries and/or rules of play which are published as part of the competition form part of the rules for entry of that competition.

All filming not taking place on private land should seek permission through the Bath Film Office. An application is available on this website.

The film should be comply to certificate 12A rules

Discrimination
Discriminatory language or behavior must not be endorsed by the work as a whole. Aggressive discriminatory language or behavior is unlikely to be acceptable unless clearly condemned.

Drugs
Any misuse of drugs must be infrequent and should not be glamorized or give instructional detail.

Horror

Moderate physical and psychological threat may be permitted, provided disturbing sequences are not frequent or sustained.

Imitable behavior
Dangerous behavior (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied, or appear pain or harm free. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorized.

Language

Moderate language is allowed. The use of strong language must be infrequent.

Nudity

Nudity is allowed, but in a sexual context must be brief and discreet.

Sex

Sexual activity may be briefly and discreetly portrayed. Sex references should not go beyond what is suitable for young teenagers. Frequent crude references are unlikely to be acceptable.

Theme
Mature themes are acceptable, but their treatment must be suitable for young teenagers.

Violence
Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context. Sexual violence may only be implied or briefly and discreetly indicated, and must have a strong contextual justification.
